The main technology we use is called Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO), which can be used in any storage and production environment. It is a completely organic technology and the only by-products produced are minimal amounts of oxygen and water: O2 and H2O.
Our PCO PLUS (PCO+) Photocatalytic Oxidation equipment works by removing ethylene and other VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) gases from the indoor atmosphere, as well as viruses, fungi and bacterial spores. Ethylene removal is extremely important for extending the shelf life of many vegetable products because it is ethylene that acts as a natural ripening hormone. The release of ethylene in a storage environment is what causes fresh produce, fruits, flowers and many other vegetables to deteriorate or wilt.
